Hunter Hit and Expertise Cap WoW Patch 5.0.4

Hunter Hit and Expertise Cap

Hunter Hit and Expertise cap will be the first topic we’ll be talking about in our guide.

There is no longer a minimum range for the class. The ranged weapon slot has been removed from the game; hunters now equip their ranged weapon in the main hand weapon slot. Hunters now benefit from Expertise as their ranged attacks can be dodged. Any type of pet can now choose any specialization (Ferocity, Tenacity, or Cunning).

With the removal of the offhand slot for all classes, Hunters will no longer have to use their melee skills. Your ranged weapon will have an increase in stats, allowing you to output more damage. There will be a few changes to how the Hunters are played now, rotations will be changed, and stat priority has shifted. Blizzard has also allowed Hunters shots to have a chance to be dodged now, this leads us to our first topic.

LvL 85 Hunter Hit and Expertise Caps

When Patch 5.0.4 is released, the first thing you’ll need to do is adjust your stats by reforging all your gear, to accommodate to the new hit and expertise caps. Blizzard has made it so that, even if you’re hit-capped, there will be a chance for your shots to be dodged. You’ll need to get your expertise to hit cap in order to avoid this problem. (Expertise stats also affect your pet attacks as well)

Hunter Hit and Expertise Cap

102.446 hit rating = 1% hit
102.446 expertise rating = 1% expertise
769 hit rating to be hit-capped against a boss (7.5%)
769 expertise rating to be expertise-capped against a boss (7.5%)

PvP hit cap = 308 (3%)
PvP expertise cap = 308 (3%)

Draenei hit cap = 666 hit rating vs raid boss / 205 PvP
Dwarf & Troll expertise cap = 666 expertise rating vs boss / 205 PvP

Your pet will automatically inherit all of your stats, so if you’re hit/expertise capped, this will make your pet be capped off as well. In Patch 5.0.4, your pet will have a chance to be parried, only if it is attacking from the front. If you have a MT/OT already in the group then your pet will automatically be attacking behind the target, instead of the front, thus making the attacks not being able to be parried.

If you cannot get hit capped/expertise capped, use the Raid Finder and try to get your gear up to where it should, or grind PvP if you’re a Arena/BG freak. The hunter class is definitely one of the most OP classes out there right now with this latest patch.

We hope we’ve covered all basis about the changes done to the Hunter hit and expertise caps, we’ll be following out guide with the Hunters Talent selection.
